Nvidia’s CUDA workshop set for July 27th
Nvidia’s CUDA 1-day virtual workshop is set for July 27th, 9AM and will be delivered for Python. The workshop is free for MLIS researchers and their students. The Zoom link for the event will be sent at a later date – please mark the date in your calendars.

Virtual conference on AI systems and individual rights
Eindhoven Artificial Intelligence Systems Institute will be hosting a 2-day virtual conference on Automated Decision Making (ADM) on July 15th & 16th. Organized together with LIUC University and Geneva University, the event aims to explore ethical, legal, and technical issues of Automated Decision Making systems concerning individual rights in light of the upcoming EU Regulation, such as the impact of ADM on citizens and vulnerable groups, the need of transparency and explicable AI, the consequences of ADM within the trial and during criminal investigations, recent cases of ADM incidents, how ADM impact changes with big data and linking to public databases, ADM and GDPR, ADM in the context of health care. The First International IDSI Conference, 3-6 January 2022 @ Ein Gedi
The conference is open to presentations and posters from Israeli and international researchers and practitioners. Presentation and poster topics may include contributions from core DS fields such as AI, NLP, Statistics, ML, Deep Learning and from their applications to research in the biological, physical, and social sciences as well as in the humanities. Workshop on Artificial Scientific Discovery 2021
The explicit purpose of this workshop is to emphasize those cases where the machine generates new insights on its own. The goal of this workshop is to inspire discussions on possible avenues for future developments. The workshop will take place online, from June 29 – July 1, each day from 17:00 to about 21:00 (Israel time). Registration is until June 25, 2021. More info can be found here.

How can AI help improve equity and access to opportunity for historically disadvantaged and underserved communities?
ACM launches its inaugural conference on Equity and Access in Algorithms, Mechanisms, and Optimization (EAAMO ’21). EAAMO ’21 aims to highlight work where techniques from algorithms, optimization, and mechanism design, along with insights from the social sciences and humanistic studies, can help improve equity and access to opportunity for historically disadvantaged and underserved communities. The deadline for participation is June 14th, 2021. The event will take place virtually October 5-9, 2021. More info can be found here.

Online Seminar: Next-generation recurrent network models for cognitive neuroscience
MIT's center for Brains, Minds and Machines (CBMM) is hosting a special seminar on Next-generation recurrent network models for cognitive neuroscience. The speaker, Asst. Prof. Guangyu Robert Yang of MIT's Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences (BCS), will discuss the challenges and opportunities in Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs) -  a widely accepted tool for neuroscientists.
